THE SCHOOL DAY
Honley School Daycare – Jaggar Lane Site
Daycare is open 8am-6pm, 5 days a week, 51 weeks a year offering both fee paying and funded places for children aged 2-4 years. Drop off and collection times are arranged with the Childcare Manager on an individual basis.
Early Years and Key Stage 1 - School Street Site
Early Years (Reception and Nursery)
The school doors are unlocked to allow access between 8.50am – 9am and again at 3.20pm. The doors are also unlocked at 11.50am – 12.20pm for the collection and admittance of part-time children.
Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2)
Doors to the classrooms will be open from 8.45am for children to filter in for the start of school at 8.50am. The school cannot accept legal responsibility for children who arrive before this time. School finishes at 3.20pm.
If you need to deliver or collect your child during the school day please enter by the main entrance. Inside the door you will find a buzzer to your left. Press this and the school office staff will admit you to the building. You will be asked to use the electronic system to sign your child in or out of school.
No-one is allowed to play on the equipment in the playground unless supervised by a member of staff. Please do not allow your child to play on the climbing frames outside of school hours.
Key Stage 2 (Years 3 – 6) - Jaggar Lane Site
School takes responsibility for pupils at 8:50am classroom doors open at this time and there is a member of staff on duty. Morning registration is at 9:00am. Afternoon registration is 1:00pm. Pupils arriving after these times will need to come to the school office to be signed in and will be recorded as late. School finishes at 3:25pm and pupils can be collected from the classroom door or either gate. Staff are always present at the main gate at the end of the day.
Where possible we aim to send out the majority of correspondence by email therefore, please ensure you put your email address on the admission form. We also have a text messaging service to send out key messages. Please ensure that you keep both email address and contact numbers up to date.
If your child is absent from school due to sickness or other reason please telephone school 01484 508001 and select option 1 (EY and KS1, School Street site) option 2 (KS2, Jaggar Lane site), or Option 3 (Daycare) on the first day of absence before 9:15 to give the reason. Alternatively you can text in on 07860 030694 or email firstname.lastname@example.org . If you do not contact the school, in order to comply with our Child Safeguarding Policy, the following procedures will be followed:
- If no response to primary contact, ring down contact list until reply is received, ensuring where possible that someone from outside of the family home has been contacted
- Contact other site if sibling is involved
- Alert someone on Senior Management Team that this child is absent and no contact
- Senior Management Team to risk assess a home visit.
- Home visit to be made following decision where possible by school staff or any other agency involved with the child. School staff should attend in a pair. Liaise with other site if sibling involved.
- Contact Police to initiate a “safe and well” check if all other stages have been completed and there is still no contact regarding the absent child. This should be done using the 101 number by a Safeguarding Lead

N.B. Uniform is optional for children accessing Honley School Daycare
We are a “cashless” school and any payment due will need to be made via the secure online payment service at www.parentpay.com. Details of log-ins etc will be sent when any payment is required.
We will administer prescription medication required by your child during school hours. To do this we need you to complete an administration of medication form. The form and medication should be delivered to the school office. For long term illnesses Health Care Plans need to be drawn up with parents/carers, school and medical practitioners.
Children in KS1 and Early Years on the School Street Site
If your child has a minor bumped head you will receive a text message and also a note home giving further details.
Children in KS2 – Jaggar Lane site
A call home is made if the bump is causing concern, otherwise a bumped head letter will be sent home with the child.
If there is any incident involving a head or other injury, which gives cause for concern, every attempt will be made to contact you directly.
All pupils in Year Reception, 1 and 2, and those children entitled to the 2-year old funding, are entitled to the universal free school meal, however if you wish your child to have a packed lunch we can accommodate this.
Children in KS2 who are entitled to statutory Free School Meals will receive a free school meal, otherwise meals are paid for using the Parentpay online payment system. Please note that we do not allow children to bring sweets or chocolate to school.
We also have to be aware that some children in school may have a nut allergy and for this reason we ask that no nut products are brought into school at any time.
If you wish to change arrangements; dinners to sandwiches and vice-versa please telephone the school office to arrange.
FREE SCHOOL MEALS & PUPIL PREMIUM

In order that the school can receive this funding it is important for all eligible parents to apply.
Once your entitlement is confirmed your child will be eligible to:-

- Free After School Clubs where funds allow

From time to time we may distribute information to families and individuals from external services (e.g. holiday activities, sports clubs etc). We do not endorse any of these services. It is the parent/carer's responsibility to assess the suitability of the organisation.
